Hiring: 16 x Community Researchers

Job description:

We are looking to build a team of 16 community researchers who will work in Brent and across North West London. Working in pairs, the primary work tasks will be to liaise with community groups, conduct focus groups with parents and carers (in-person and online), and co-develop project findings. The work will require access to a phone. No prior research experience is required, but an interest in SEND, ties to North West London and/or speaking multiple languages are advantages. Community researchers will be paid, receive training and have access to support and guidance throughout. A half-day training session will take place the week beginning 16th November.

About the Every Child Thriving? project:

This project aims to better understand multicultural perspectives on child development and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across North West London. A key output will be research-led training resources to build the cultural competency of healthcare professionals across the Integrated Care Board (ICB). The project is funded by the North West London ICB (now part of the West and North London ICB) and is a partnership between Brent Council, Brent Parent Carer Forum and King’s College London (KCL). You can find more information about the project on this website.

Application process:

The application form will ask about your interest in the project and any prior experience relevant to the role. The form can be found at this link and should be completed by midnight on 20th October 2026. Direct any questions about the role to Josie Hamper: josie.hamper@kcl.ac.uk.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled for 4th and 5th November.

Employment details:

Training, preparation, research and analysis time will be paid. Subject to completion of payroll paperwork and satisfactory right to work checks* via the King's Talent Bank, the positions are available on a casual basis. Community researchers can expect to be paid for 16 hours of work, which includes training, and should expect to be involved between November 2026 and May 2027. The hourly rate is £22.32 (including holiday pay).
